The dam in Solina

The construction of the dam in Solina lasted almost 9 years (1960 - 1968). Over 2000 people worked on the construction of the dam. The height of the dam is 82 m, the depth at the dam is 60 m, and its length is 664 m. Below the dam there is a hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 200 MW. Many species of fish live in the water of Lake Solina. They are: carp, perch, bream, pike perch, pike, catfish, roach, chub and asp. You can see them from the top of the dam because people feed them. Many recreation centre are situated around the lake. Polańczyk (see more) is located on the west bank of the lake. The area of silence is valid throughout the lake and its surroundings. You can surf and sail there. There are some nice marinas for the boats. Solina Lake is popular because of its landscapes and less commercialized nature. The cruise ships sail on the lake in summer. You can also visit the Solina Dam inside it.
