Oil and ethnography museum in Libusza

The Museum in Libusza is situated in the picturesque of Gorlice county, 4 km from Biecz. It was founded by Anna and Tadeusz Pabis in 1977. They both were employees of the oil industry. They collected in the museum over 600 exhibits and 500 biographies of the well-deserved oil-workers. The oldest relics of the past are: distillery of kerosene (lamp-oil) of 1856 and the mine smithy from the mid-nineteenth century. The exhibition is divided into two section:

- oil industry with many different exhibits related to the mining and processing of the crude oil in that area, the models of the oil wells from 1852 to 1939, ceramics kerosene containers, documents, maps, drilling tools and uniforms;
- ethnography where there are old furniture, everyday objects, agriculture and household tools, monuments of technology, old radios, sewing machines, pictures and other old souvenirs.

Outside the museum there is also the open-air museum (1 ha) with the equipment and tools for oil extraction and processing.
People visiting that museum were amazed seeing so many documents telling us about the story of the world's oil industry which started there.
