The Chapel and Cemetery Ruins in Żenica Niżna

The village Żernica Niżna no longer exists. Now, you can see only the old cemetery, the place where the Orthodox church used to be and a new chapel built in that area. In 1932, thanks to the Polish families, the Roman Catholic chapel was built there and on the 29th of May 1938 the priest Jan Kruczek, the rector from Hoczew parish consecrated it. It was the chapel for over 250 Catholics living in Żernica Niżna, Żernica Wyżna and Żerdenka. During the last years that chapel has been renovated by the current owner. There are two older and 4 later graves on the cemetery. There is another grave with a crooked, iron cross at the fence of the cemetery.
The tourists from Sosnowa Aleja got acquainted with the history of the village and its surroundings.
