The Orthodox Church in Żernica Wyżna

The village Żernica Wyżna belonged to the Bal family. It was based on Wallachian law and mentioned by historical sources for the first time in 1485. In 1511 there was here, probably wooden, the orthodox church. In 1800 the Greek Catholic Church of St Basil was built in that place. That church was renovated in 1936 and then the women's gallery was added to it. In 1947 the buildings were burnt by UPA bands and the church was robbed. The ruins of the church were renovated by the current owner with his money in 2008-2013.
The tourists from Sosnowa Aleja visiting that church were fascinated by the place and the beauty of the interior of the church.
